Devils Backbone Brewing Company Schwartz Bier

Derived from the recipes of medieval Germanic brewers, our Schwartz Bier embodies a millennium of refinement. Schwarzbier (literally: black beer) originates from eastern Germany and is a window into pre-modern brewing. Medieval brewers browned barley over open flames; today we get the characteristically subtle roasted flavor by using the finest toasted malts. This sophisticated little gem is fermented with lager yeast, and finishes quick and dry. Take this modern treasure home to your castle today!

Devils Backbone Brewing Company Eight Point IPA

This is the first batch of beer we brewed after the conception of Devils Backbone Brewing Company in 2008. Our brewmaster Jason Oliver was thinking about how to design the IPA when he heard a rustle near his fence line (just touching the woods) where he saw two young proud eight point bucks walking along it. He decided to name the beer after those young bucks as it seemed to fit the spirit of the beer, which is proud, brash, youthful, yet approachable.

Blue Moon Harvest Pumpkin Ale

In 1995, we crafted our first autumn seasonal—Pumpkin Ale. At the time,
Oktoberfest beers were in high demand. For our version, we wanted to create a
beer that was a little different than what was already out there and complemented the season by highlighting the flavors we’ve all grown to love during this time. It was so popular that it became the first nationally available pumpkin ale. Harvest Pumpkin Ale, as it’s called now, is crafted with pumpkin and spices of cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and allspice for a taste you’ll want to fall right into.

Deep amber colored ale with brilliant clarity and a rich, white head. Very complex aroma consisting of malty spice notes. The taste starts out with assertive malty notes and is quickly balanced with the right amount of harvest spices including cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and allspice. There’s a small amount of bitterness to keep the malt sweetness from building up. A medium-bodied ale with just enough carbonation to balance the rich caramel character. Finishes with a smooth, clean malt and spice taste. Hints of cinnamon, nutmeg, and malt gradually fade.

Available in 12oz. bottles, 6pack, 12pack, Draft

New Belgium Fat Tire

Named in honor of our co-founder’s bike trip through Europe, Fat Tire Amber Ale marks a turning point in the young electrical engineer’s home brewing. Belgian beers use a far broader palette of ingredients (fruits, spices, esoteric yeast strains) than German or English styles. Jeff found the Belgian approach freeing. Upon his return, Jeff created Fat Tire and Abbey Belgian Ale, (assuming Abbey would be his big gun). Together with co-founder Kim Jordan, they traveled around sampling their homebrews to the public. Fat Tire’s appeal quickly became evident. People liked everything about it. Fat Tire won fans with its sense of balance: toasty, biscuit-like malt flavors coasting in equilibrium with hoppy freshness. Fat Tire: Pairs well with people.

Lagunitas IPA

Lagunitas IPA was our first seasonal way back in 1995. The recipe was formulated with malt and hops working together to balance it all out on your ‘buds so you can knock back more than one without wearing yourself out. Big on the aroma with a hoppy-sweet finish that’ll leave you wantin’ another sip.

This is our unique version of an ancient style. A style as old as the ocean trade routes of the last centuries Great Ships. Not as old as the equator they had to cross twice enroute, nor as old as the 10,000 or so miles of Di-Hydrogen Oxide and Sodium upon which they sailed, but older than the Circulithium-4 Lentloid that binds the Lupulin Quartnate onto your taste buds. Weird. Think about it. Now stop. OK, go again, now stop. Think again, and stop. But we digress. Made with 43 different hops and 65 various malts, this redolent ale will likely float your boat, whatever planet you’re on.

The hops didn’t just exhibit the standard citrus flavors of grapefruit and lemon, but they also deliver some mild strawberry notes and a grassy, earthy flavor. This beer has a great head and a wonderful hop flavor as well. This IPA is very soft and not terribly crisp, but then again, an ale with this many flavors needn’t be crisp, just refreshing.”

Oskar Blues Lil’ Yella’ Pils

Are all pilsners the same? Definitely NO! Oskar Blues breaks the mold on pilsner and makes a bold Bohemian-style brew called Oskar Blues Mama’s Little Yella Pils. This gently hopped (35 IBU) pilsner has been around in cans since early 2009 and dares you to think that this is a common lager.

Oskar Blues’ Mama’s Little Yella Pils is an uncompromising, small-batch version of the beer that made Pilsen, Czech Republic, famous. Unlike mass market “pilsners” diluted with corn & rice, Mama’s is built with 100% pale malt, German specialty malts, and Saaz hops. While its rich with Czeched-out flavor, its gentle hopping (35 IBUs) and low ABV (just 5.3%) make it a luxurious but low-dose (by Oskar Blues standards) refresher.

Mama’s Little Yella Pils pours a clear bright yellow color with a nice big white head. A rich aroma of lemon, grass and biscuity malts is where Mama’s Little Yella Pils distinguishes itself from a normal pilsner. The Bavarian hops leave a fresh scent in the glass. The beer is medium bodied with a lot of bitter sweet malts up front on the tongue followed by a lemony pilsner taste.

Oskar Blues Dale’s Pale Ale

Brewed with hefty amounts of European malts and four kinds of American hops, This American Pale Ale delivers a blast of hop aromas, a rich middle of malt and hops, and a thrilling finish.

A sniff from the firm, tan head yields a varied aroma, displaying a healthy dose of caramel sweetness along with a resinous, floral hop presence bolstered by a surprising alcohol tingle on the nostrils. Toffee and caramel flavors march in on the beginning of the swallow, heavy and sweet. Aggressive hops emerge as well, citrusy, sticky, and spicy with an elevated level of bitterness. Dark gold and full-bodied, this beer has mild carbonation and a stiff alcohol presence.

Why squeeze such a big brew into a little can?

Because we think fun in the great outdoors calls for great beer. Our cans go where bottled beers can’t, where flavorless canned beers don’t belong. And no matter where you drink Dale’s Pale Ale, our can protect it from light and oxidation far better than bottles do. Oskar Blues launched its canning ops in 2002, brewing and hand-canning Dale’s Pale Ale in the Lyons, ColoRADo, brewpub. America’s first-craft-canned mountain Pale is a hearty, critically acclaimed trailblazer that changed the way craft beer fiends perceive portable beer

Foothills Cottonwood Low Down Brown

Cottonwood Low Down Brown is an English style brown ale that pours an almost opaque deep reddish brown in color. Light visible carbonation is present, with significant garnet red highlights. A small beige head slowly reduces to a couple of small, thin patches with a very thin film covering the majority of the remainder of the surface of the beer as a thin ring forms at the edges of the glass.

Moderate aromas of light fruit malty sweetness are present, with apple and pear standing out along with some earthy hops and just a touch of nuts. A first taste reveals light to moderate upfront flavors of toasted malts with some light fruit sweetness – specifically red apple. Following the malts there are some light hints of nuts and brown sugar. Finally, there is a moderate amount of earthy hops in the finish that lend a light lingering bitterness.

Foothills Torch Pilsner

In the glass, this beer has a medium golden apple juice coloration with nice bubble action. The aroma is quite herbal in nature with a distinct hop presence and some subtle some grassy notes. Very clean, very inviting.

The first sip is nicely foreshadowed and consisted mostly of a crisp hop sting. It has a very nice bite for a pilsner and lets you know first hand that what you’re drinking drinking is not mass-produced. You’re immediately greeted with a zesty apple-like flavor instead of the standard lemony citrus of most pilsners. The lemon notes are certainly there, but they are only complimentary to the apple flavour with bitter herbs and grainy sweetness. The mouthfeel is pretty light and has a decent tangy character.

A well structured, Czech-style pilsner. Torch is strong in alcohol with a rich, full finish. Good mouth feel and well-balanced Czech Saaz hops ensure that Torch is not your typical pilsner.

Foothills Hoppyum IPA

Do you like hops? Foothills Brewing’s HOPPYUM IPA is full of citrusy American hops with an emphasis on Simcoe hops, an especially pungent hop variety. This brew finishes dry, making it a great session beer to come back to.

Hoppyum has a pale bronze color, stands an off-white head and a veritable farmyard pong of sulfur just like the mineral-rich waters of Burton-on-Trent in England. As the sulfur clears, a powerful aroma of bitter oranges attacks the nose along with earthy hops – Cascade, Centennial, Columbus and Simcoe – with a cracker wheat malt note. Bitter fruit and hops build in the mouth but chewy, sweet malt adds a fine balance. The finish is bittersweet with marmalade fruit, earthy hop resins and powerful malt notes. It’s hard to argue with a beer that’s brewed this well. You may well drink four pints, preferably with spicy fish tacos.
